easyJet News February 2004

Snow, sun, and ski
February is the month to go skiing! The slopes have a beautiful covering of snow, hopefully the sun will be shining up on the mountains, and all the resorts are geared up for some serious après-ski!

easyJet offers flights to airports that give excellent access to many top resorts. If Alpine skiing is your thing fly to Geneva, Lyon, Munich or Zurich. Toulouse is the gateway to the Pyrenees and its many excellent resorts, and the Italian ski destinations of the Dolomites are within reach of all you skiers and snowboarders via Venice.

easyJet is the airline of choice for winter sports, because the airline will carry your ski equipment as part of the 10 kg free sport allowance - on top of the 20 kg free hold allowance - which means that you would only pay excess baggage fees for any ski gear that weighed more than 10 kg!

And there’s certainly plenty of choice as at the height of the season, easyJet will be offering over 90 flights a week from the UK to Geneva alone! Remember that travelling mid-week means cheaper fares, because you are avoiding the peak weekend periods.

To help you plan your ski trip, easyJet has created a special one-stop ski shop online at easyJet.com. Visit the ski section by clicking on the icon on the menu bar, and enter the world of easyJet4ski! Here you can check availability and book accommodation in real time (which means you don’t have to wait around for confirmation), rent ski and snowboard gear, check the weather at your chosen resort, get that all-important travel insurance, and get detailed information on many resorts through excellent travel guides.

So if you haven’t booked your ski trip yet, don’t hang about any longer! Log on to easyJet.com as soon as you can, and book that winter holiday!

Breast Cancer Awareness

easyJet raised a staggering £235,000 as a result of its support for Breast Cancer
Awareness month last October.

Europe's leading low cost airline, decided to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month following an advert the airline ran in May 2003. The 'Discover Weapons Of Mass Distraction' advert provoked a strong reaction amongst the public, prompting the airline to use this as an opportunity to raise money for a charity which many people in the company felt strongly about.

Throughout the month of October easyJet held onboard collections, sold Cancer Research UK products, and hosted staff fundraising days at its 12 UK airports. easyJet passengers donated £226,585 during the onboard collections. This exceeded all expectations, and the easyJet campaign was one of the most successful onboard charity campaigns in the airline’s history.

Over £8,000 was also raised by staff during internal fund- raising events on easyJet's national 'Pink Day’, during which all easyJet ground based employees throughout the UK swapped the familiar orange for Cancer Research's pink! Part of this amount included a donation from the company which agreed to match the amount raised by staff. Cancer Research UK is the beneficiary of all monies collected from the onboard collections, and of 50% of the funds raised during internal events. The remaining 50% of the funds from the internal events is being donated to specially selected Breast Care hospitals in Bristol and Nottingham. easyJet would like to say a big 'Thank You’ to Alpha In-flight catering services,

Travelex, International Currency Exchange, and to all easyJet passengers who flew in October, for their generosity and support throughout the campaign.

THE MOVEMENT FOR NON-MOBILE CHILDREN

easyJet has chosen Whizz-Kidz to be its charity of the year. This national children’s charity provides disabled children with customised mobility equipment, such as powered wheelchairs, not available on the NHS. Whizz-Kidz gives these children the freedom and independence they never thought possible, transforming their entire lives. Once a disabled child receives mobility equipment the impact on the whole family is dramatic. For the first time the entire family can be mobile and enjoy quality time together.

easyJet supports Whizz-Kidz through a 'click and give’ campaign on the website. For every click on the Whizz-Kidz logo on the easyJet.com home page, the airline gives 25p to disabled children. By mid-January 154,920 people had clicked on the Whizz-Kidz icon, resulting in easyJet giving £38,730.00 to this excellent cause. But keep clicking, because easyJet has pledged up to £50,000 to the 'click and give’ campaign!
