Shop
Ulica Nowy Swiat is Warsaw’s version of New York City’s Fifth Avenue—the difference being that some of the shops are actually affordable. Spend an afternoon browsing the shop windows, where you can find everything from ‘Baltic gold’ (amber) to the latest European fashions.
Insider Tip
If you’re short on time— or if planning your own sightseeing excursion is too much of a hassle—try the guys at Tours Warsaw (www.tours-warsaw.com). They can organise anything from a quick trip around the Old Town to a gourmet dining tour or an introduction to sights that are off the beaten path.
Key Area
The Mokotów district is where you’ll find Warsaw’s famous Lazienki Park, as well as some beautifully restored palaces that now mostly host foreign embassies. Galeria Mokotów, a large modern shopping centre, has dozens of shops as well as a cinema.
