On the ground
Shop
The women's branch of the city’s boutique, Madame Bugalú offers carefully selected threads and feminine accessories in a spacious boudoir-like setting (www.madamebugalu.es).
Insider Tip
Hidden away on Calle Caballeros, the IBER museum houses one of the largest collections of tiny lead figures, each depicting historic scenes and characters, including the Spanish Guard, Valencian soldiers and daily life.
Key Area
Stretching for a whopping 12 kilometres, the Jardines del Turia offer visitors a serene and safe way to cross the city. Don’t expect rowing boats however, the ancient course was filled with cycle lanes, footpaths, cafés and tropical trees in the 1970s.
This month
As the season draws to a close, don't miss your last chance to see Valencia FC in action. The Mestalla opens its doors to local rivals Levante as well as Atlético Madrid, with as much adrenaline off the pitch as on.
Day Tripping
Sagunto
–
For an opportunity to mingle (and barter) with the locals, take an early morning trip to the port of Sagunto on a Thursday or Saturday. Pick up olives, ceramics, clothing or jewellery on the seafront.
No way!
Valencia’s port is one of the biggest on the Mediterranean and is the third largest in Spain, handling 20% of Spain’s exports.
