(Local 7, Monte Aneto, Nova Santa Ponsa. Tel. 971 692 129) This Italian restaurant has a fantastic garden terrace to enjoy the freshly made pastas. Specialities include turbot on squid risotto, and spinach and ricotta ravioli.
(Hotel Melia de Mar, 7 Paseo Illetas. Tel. 971 402 511) This five-star restaurant sits by the Mediterranean, making it the perfect setting for a classy, romantic meal. Specialities include calderata (lobster casserole), chateaubriand and sole meunier.

(5 Apuntadores, La Lonja. Tel. ) Hosting local, national and international jazz acts from Wednesday to Saturday nights. Expect great music and a warm welcome.
(29 Paseo Maritimo. Tel. ) Open until 5am, this club hosts dance and trance nights, as well as live entertainment, indie cinema, guest speakers and much more.

Insider Tip
Spanish artist Miró and Maljorca are intimately connected. One of the best contemporary art centres on the island, the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró a Mallorca, is west of Palma, in Cala Major. It's open from 10am-6pm (10am-7pm from 16 May) Tuesday-Saturday and 10am-3pm (10am-7pm from 16 May) on Sunday.

On the outskirts of Palma, Poble Espanyol is an unusual theme park, where the attractions are reproductions of famous buildings from Cordoba, Toledo and Madrid, including the famous Alhambra Palace in Granada. Quite bizarre but worth a visit (39 Carrer Poble Espanyol. Tel. 971 737 075).
