(Wolfova. Tel. 01 426 9125) The best sushi in town is right here in the city centre. Take a window pew and enjoy excellent sushi and sashimi with a Japanese beer to wash it down.
(9 Stari Trg. Tel. 01 425 6463) A good-value Old Town retreat where you can try Slovenian dishes, as well as French and Italian-influenced food. There are tables outside, too.
(Zidovska Steza. Tel. ) This new arrival in the old Jewish Quarter is a relaxed place to sink a few pints of imported beer. It's also popular for big sporting events, with the atmosphere usually less rowdy than the city's Irish bars.
(7 Eipprova. Tel. ) Head to funky Trnovo for this chaotic escape. Delve past the bright graffiti façade and hope that whoever's expected to play shows up.
(Grad Kodeljevo, 34 Koblarjeva. Tel. 01 544 3067) This grand venue is more renowned for its bar and restaurant, but it also stages interesting live music and club nights.
