No way!
Legend has it that the village of Mancha Blanca was saved from destruction by the Virgen de los Dolores during the 19th-century volcanic eruptions. The villagers carried the statue of the Virgin Mary to the edge of the approaching lava, that threatened to engulf the village, and promised to build a church in her honour in return for their salvation. The lava duly stopped at the site of the present-day church.
