Shop
La Fuentita sells a wide range of gifts crafted by local artists. Read about each artist as you browse the lovely items (2 Calle Carrero Blanco, Corralejo).
Insider Tip
If you're staying in Corralejo, it's a bit of a walk out to the dunes. Bus number 6 leaves the station every half hour and costs less than €1.50. Get off at the Riu Hotels stop.
Key Area
Las Dunas Natural Park, in Corralejo, has some of the best beaches on the island. Learn wind- or kite-surfing, toboggan on the dunes or partake in some bird-watching at this protected reserve.
This month
Visit the traditional home of weaver Felipe Marrero, housing a collection of antique textiles and looms, plus other Fuerteventuran artefacts. Open from 10am-2pm on Monday (2 Paseo de la Libertad, Llano Florido en Tuineje, Tuineje).
Day Tripping
Ajuy
 – A sleepy fishing village on the west coast, with amazing cliffs that are ideal for walking. Set off along the cliffs, heading away from the village. When you get to a dried-up river bed follow it down to the sea and a rock formation known as the Arc de Triomphe. Swimming is dangerous here, but it's a beautiful spot to relax in. Head back to the village for a fish dinner on the seafront.
No way!
Bazar JOPI, in Puerte del Rosario, is the place to buy your Primitiva (lottery) ticket. In the last year, it has sold two tickets that have won more than €2million!
